Why Close the G8?

15 minutes – Scotland 2005

In the summer of 2005, the leaders of the worlds ‘most powerful economies’ met in Gleneagles, Perthshire in Scotland. Hundreds of thousands of people
gathered to protest against the G8.

Part talking head, part animation, the film is a short, sharp and concise call to action.

This film explains what the G8 is, what it does and gives voice to the thousands of people protesting against it.
It was made in the run up to the 2005 G8 summit in Gleneagles as a means to encourage people to get involved. 30,000 copies were distributed free with Big Issue Scotland.
