Petrol in my Food

Origami Animation – 3 minutes – Scotland 2010

An old lady may have swallowed a fly, but our planet is swallowing oceans of crude oil as a result of how we feed ourselves. A short and sweet origami animation examining the link between our food and its dependency on oil, inspired by the famous nursery rhyme ‘There was an old lady that Swallowed a fly’.

This three minute short uses origami, kitchen table, cellophane and bin liners to conjure up a compelling modern twist on the nursery rhyme ‘there was an old lady who swallowed a fly’.

By combining simple imagery and a strong message about how unsustainable our methods of food production are, we have succeeded in making a film loved by both adults and children.
